This blog reflects the musings of former Prescott Arizona Mayor Jack Wilson. I was mayor from November 2007 – November 2009. I like quotations as I think they are capsule bits of philosophy. One of my favorite is:
A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation. – James Freeman Clarke, Sermon
I operated as Mayor using that philosophy and was not reelected, but I have no regrets. One of the realities of being an elected official is that you are constantly under a media microscope and you need to be very aware of what you say as it may end up above the fold on page one of the local paper. However, now that I am no longer in office I can fully speak my mind and that is what I do on this blog. I look at the coming and goings in Prescott and when something strikes my fancy I blog about it. So enjoy my posts and if you have something to say, post a comment. Today, we live in an interactive social media world. Engagement is what makes social media work and that requires a real two-way conversation.

I write this blog with my name front and center. I encourage comments as long as they avoid profanity, but only if you have the chutzpah to use your real name. If you hide behind a pseudonym, then take your comments elsewhere.
I believe in the value of real discourse much as is done in the New England Town Halls. In those town halls, we get to hear and see each other during the discussion. If you are so unsure of yourself that you need to hide your identity, then this blog is not for you
All comments are moderated and if you use a pseudonym to hide your identify, then I will simply delete your comment.

Your article “Is Prescott the Mayberry of Arizona?” — “A dialogue About Diversity” is excellent, on target, factual, etc. When we purchased property in Prescott in 1992, we were given a CC & R booklet from a subdivision that stated — “No colored people allowed”. We could not believe it.
Thanks you your comment Sheila. Very interesting provision — which subdivision was it?
i would like to talk to someone about the sherrif.s deputies who blately abuse thier power also.
Hi Jack,
I will be in town on Feb 25 & 26, and would love to meet you for a cup of coffee. Let me know if you are available.
Many thanks,
Natalie
